Book account
With a book account on a transaction, Spendle automatically creates a counter-entry on another account. Useful for transfers to a savings account, credit card settlements, or cash withdrawals going to a cash account.
Example: €100 is transferred from the current account to the savings account. By entering the savings account as the book account on the -€100 transaction, a counter-entry of +€100 is automatically generated on the savings account.
Making the book account visible
Section titled “Making the book account visible”The book account option is hidden by default. Enable it under More > Settings > Show book account (Always show book account in transaction details).
Entering a book account manually
Section titled “Entering a book account manually”-
Open a transaction in the Transactions tab.
-
Enter the account under Book account to which the counter-entry should go.
-
Save. Spendle automatically creates a counter-entry on that account.
Automatically via an action rule
Section titled “Automatically via an action rule”Recurring transfers — for example a monthly savings contribution — can be counter-posted automatically via an action rule:
-
Open More > Administration > Action rules and click + New rule.
-
Set the condition — for example description contains “to savings account”.
-
Enter the savings account under Assign → Book account.
-
Save. Matching transactions will automatically receive the book account from now on.
The Matches tab in the rule details shows which transactions this rule affects.
Removing a book account
Section titled “Removing a book account”To remove a book account from a transaction: open the transaction, clear the Book account field, and save. The counter-entry is then also removed. If the book account is automatically assigned by a rule, also update the rule (Assigned link at the bottom left of the transaction).
