Search and filter
Searching uses free text in the search bar; filtering via the filter screen. Both can be combined.
Free search
Section titled “Free search”Click the magnifying glass at the top right of the Transactions tab and type a word. All searchable fields are searched: description, memo, counterparty account, relation, category, account, group, annotation, own note, transaction ID, tag and amount.
- Space = AND —
albert heijnfinds transactions with albert and heijn. - Comma = OR —
albert, jumbofinds transactions with albert or jumbo. - Amount filters —
>50,>=20,<100,<=100,=50. - Additional operators —
~decl(whole word),=decl(exact field),^decl(starts with),decl$(ends with),-decl(exclude).
The X icon in the search field clears the search term. The active period remains in effect in the search results.
The full cheatsheet is in Search operators.
Filter screen
Section titled “Filter screen”Click the filter icon in the Transactions tab to open a screen where filters can be combined per transaction field. An active filter is shown as a yellow bar at the top.
Several values per field
Section titled “Several values per field”Category, Group, Grouptype, Relation, Tag and Source accept more than one value. Every chosen value appears as a label in the field; the cross on a label removes that value again.
Within one field or applies: a transaction with one of the chosen categories is included. Between fields and applies: a transaction has to match every filled field.
Excluding values
Section titled “Excluding values”Behind each of these fields is a minus sign. It opens a second row for values you do not want to see. Excluding takes priority over including: a category in both rows drops out. A filter with only an exclusion works too.
Special
Section titled “Special”The Special field contains fixed selections, such as Without relation, Transfers and Duplicates.
With Assigned by action rule, you see the transactions where an action rule filled something in, such as the category, relation, tag, contra account or split. This way, you check after importing what was assigned automatically, and adjust it where needed. See Automatic categorisation.
Sorting
Section titled “Sorting”The sort option sits at the bottom of the filter screen:
- Date — sorts by date.
- Amount — sorts by the size of the amount, regardless of whether it is income or an expense.
- Relation, Category, Account or Tag — sorts alphabetically on the text in that column. Transactions without a value are placed at the bottom.
The button next to the dropdown switches the direction. On a wider screen, you can also sort by clicking a column header; see Column headers.
Only the direction of the date sort is remembered per device. That direction also determines the order of transactions with the same value, for example within the same relation. Sorting by another column applies until you reopen the app; after that the list returns to date. Sorting is not a filter and therefore does not appear in the filter notice above the list.
Filter in the Budget sheet
Section titled “Filter in the Budget sheet”The Budget sheet has its own filter button in the toolbar next to Print. On a phone the button sits in the menu behind the three dots. The filter screen there shows the period plus Grouptype, Group and Category.
Quick filter via transaction row
Section titled “Quick filter via transaction row”The actions menu at the end of each transaction row (the three dots) contains quick filters to apply a value directly as a filter — for example all transactions from the same relation or in the same category.
Account or profile filter
Section titled “Account or profile filter”The account or profile filter is at the top right of the application: use it to limit all screens to a single account or a profile (a collection of accounts). See Account profile.
