Transferring an administration

An administration can be transferred to another Spendle account. This is done via an encrypted export, which is opened in the other account and linked to that account with a sync.

Split off a part first?

To transfer only a portion rather than the whole administration, split it first — see Splitting an administration.

How it works

1. Export the administration. Open via the hamburger menu [administration name] > Export to file. Spendle creates an encrypted .sdb file and saves it. See Exporting an administration for details.

2. Send the file to the recipient. Pass the administration password separately — without it the file cannot be opened.

3. Open in the other Spendle account. The recipient logs in with their own Spendle account (see Creating an account), opens the export file in Spendle, and enters the administration password. The recipient then clicks Sync to link the administration to the new account.

The original administration remains

An export leaves the original administration unchanged on the existing account. To remove it there, delete the old working file after the transfer via hamburger menu > Open administration.
