Cashflow on the dashboard

The Dashboard gives an overview of the financial situation in one screen: monthly cashflow, net worth, account balance, and trend indicators.

The dashboard shows the monthly Cashflow — what came in, what went out, and how that develops. With the forecast enabled, it also looks ahead.

The dashboard shows the balance on 31 December. The difference between the current balance and the year-end balance on 31 December is presented as the total cashflow.

The result also includes the total of internal transfers. Result and internal transfers together form the total that matches the displayed cashflow.

Two figures on the Dashboard can differ due to internal transfers (transfers between own accounts, for example from a current account to a savings account):

  • Balance — the total of all accounts combined. Every transaction counts in this sum.
  • Result — the difference between income and expenses over a period. Transactions with a category where Transfer is checked do not count in the result.

A transfer from your current account to your savings account does not change your balance (the money remains yours), but it would end up as an “expense” in the result if the category is not marked as a transfer.

Further down the dashboard, internal transfers are shown separately, so it is clear where the total comes from — for example transfers to the savings account. See Internal transfers in the glossary.

At the top, switch between shorter or longer periods. Longer periods help to identify trends, such as structurally rising fixed expenses or recurring seasonal costs.
