Switching to Spendle

Spendle can import transactions from various sources — from banks and from household budget applications. If a file is not recognised directly, a custom bank format can be defined or the Excel template can be used.

Spendle automatically recognises a large number of file formats — the full list is too extensive to include here, but it includes:

  • Dutch and Belgian banks — including ABN AMRO, ING, Rabobank, SNS, ASN, Knab, Bunq, Triodos, Moneyou, Delta Lloyd, Fortis, Meespierson, Van Lanschot, Belfius, BNP, KBC, Argenta.
  • German banks — including DKB and Sparkasse.
  • Other services — PayPal, American Express, Isabel, Tangerine.
  • Budget and accounting applications — including Penningmeester (predecessor of Spendle), Cashflow 5, WinBank, Twizzit and Banktrans.

If your file is not recognised, go to Custom bank format or use the Excel template below.

If your source or application is not listed, use the Spendle Excel template. Fill in your transactions according to the required format and then import the file via the Import tab.

  1. Install Penningmeester 6.2.0.50 or higher.

  2. Open your Penningmeester administration and go to File > Spendle Export.

  3. Save the CSV export file on your PC.

  4. Open your Spendle administration and go to the Import tab.

  5. Select the CSV export file. Categories, relations, budget and transactions are all imported.

Spendle data can also be imported into Penningmeester via hamburger menu > [administration name] > Export CSV. This allows temporary parallel use.

  1. Export your administration in Cashflow 5 in CSV format.

  2. Open the Import tab in Spendle and drag the CSV file into the application (or select it via Upload your transaction file here).

  3. Import. Transactions and categories are imported. Budgets are not included.

Banktrans has been discontinued. An export to Excel is still possible within the application; the Excel file can be imported directly into Spendle by dragging it into the application or selecting it via the Import tab.

Export to CSV and use Custom bank format to map the columns once. After that, new exports in the same format are recognised automatically.
