Forecast
The forecast shows what is expected to remain at the end of the period. Spendle calculates it with your budget and with what has already been booked. This makes it possible to see before the end of the month or year how things are looking.
Turning on the forecast
Section titled “Turning on the forecast”There are two ways:
- Via the settings — open More > Settings and turn on Show prognosis.
- Via the Insight screen — in the bar with Actual and Position, click the double arrow (»). Spendle shows a short explanation. Choose Enable prognosis display. Click « to turn the forecast off again.
When filtering on a profile, the forecast only appears if Show budgets is turned on for that profile.
Where does the forecast appear?
Section titled “Where does the forecast appear?”- Insight screen — the Prognosis and Remaining buttons next to Actual and Position.
- Insight view — a line extending to the end of the period. See Insight view.
- Budget sheet — choose Prognosis as the amount display at the top left.
- Dashboard — the Result prognosis line in the Result card and the Budget position card.
How does it work?
Section titled “How does it work?”The forecast calculates per category:
- Past months — with the actual amount.
- Current and future months — with the budget. If the actual amount differs from the budget, that difference (the position) is included.
- Categories without a budget — only with the actual amount. Future months then count as €0.
A pattern from the past only counts if it is copied as a budget. See Budget per category.
One-off outliers (large purchase, holiday) are not included unless you create a budget for them. Use the forecast as a direction, not a prediction.
