Export data

You can export all your data at once as a ZIP file. This also works with an expired licence or without the Spendle server.

The ZIP file contains all your data in separate CSV files: transactions, accounts, categories, relations, rules, budgets, amortisation and a list of attachments. The names of the files and columns are in English. You open the CSV files with Excel, Numbers or LibreOffice. The ZIP file also contains an encrypted copy of your administration (.sdb). Spendle therefore asks for your administration password.

  1. Open hamburger menu > [administration name] > Export CSV.

  2. Choose Everything (ZIP file).

  3. Read the message and choose Export.

  4. Enter your administration password.

  5. Save the ZIP file.

Do you want to continue in Spendle later? Unzip the ZIP file and open the .sdb file in Spendle. Spendle cannot import the CSV files as a whole. Only transactions.csv can be imported, via Importing CSV, with its own column layout.

The attachments themselves are not in the ZIP file. You download them separately, per year. You can download a maximum of 50 attachments at a time. Do you have more? Then choose a shorter period, or select the attachments.

  1. Open Attachments.

  2. Choose a year as the period.

  3. Choose Zip in the menu.

  4. Save the ZIP file. Repeat this for each year.

Attachments are normally only stored in your Spendle account. Is the server not available? Then you can only download attachments that are stored on your device. This only works if the setting Store copy of documents is on for that device.

  • Licence expired: you can still open, view and export your administration. Close the message or the licence screen. Syncing, bank connections (PSD2) and importing transactions do not work then.
  • Server not available: you work with the administration on your device. You have opened the administration on this device before. You know your administration password. In the browser, use the same browser as before.
  • Logged out: your administration is not in the list. Open it via Automatic backups.
