Resolved
Section titled “Resolved”Temporarily limited functionality
Section titled “Temporarily limited functionality”21 October 2026
Spendle could be used, with temporarily limited functionality. Not available for a while: syncing, fetching new transactions via a bank connection and buying a licence.
A security update for PHP was released. PHP is software that many websites use, including the Spendle server. As a precaution, that part of the server was switched off until the update was available and installed. Other organisations took the same precaution. More information is in the NOS article (in Dutch).
Update 22 October, 06:30 (CEST): the update has been installed. Everything works as normal again.
In addition, the recommended check for attempts to exploit the flaw has been carried out, covering the period from 17 October 2026. No signs of a break-in were found.
Incorrect annual licence price in Google Play
Section titled “Incorrect annual licence price in Google Play”15 October 2026
Due to an incorrect price setting in Google Play, some customers paid €27.99 instead of €23 for an annual licence. This has since been corrected. As compensation, the licence of all affected customers has automatically been extended by 80 days.
What to do: nothing. The extension has already been applied.
Spendle does not start on iOS 27
Section titled “Spendle does not start on iOS 27”17 September 2026
On iPhones running iOS 27, Spendle closed again immediately after starting: a white screen appeared briefly, after which the iPhone home screen returned. Apple had tightened a requirement in iOS 27 that version 2.70.7 of the app did not yet meet. Android devices and iPhones running an older iOS version were not affected.
Update: the corrected version is available in the App Store. Updating the app resolves the problem.
Creating an ING connection fails
Section titled “Creating an ING connection fails”8 August 2026
From 8 August 2026, creating or renewing a PSD2 connection with ING failed. After logging in at ING, a GoCardless error page appeared, such as “Session expired” or “Something went wrong”. The issue was in the connection between GoCardless and ING; connections with other banks worked normally.
Update: the issue has been resolved.
Recreate some bank connections once
Section titled “Recreate some bank connections once”28 June 2026
Due to a technical error, on 28 June 2026 the bank connections (PSD2) of a few users were ended earlier than intended, while the usual 180-day period had not yet passed. As a result, automatic synchronisation may have stopped.
What to do: recreate the affected bank connection once via Import > Bank connection. Existing transactions and data are kept — only the connection is renewed.
The cause has been resolved; new connections again last the full period. Apologies for the inconvenience.
KNAB PSD2 connection not synchronising
Section titled “KNAB PSD2 connection not synchronising”December 2025
From 23 December 2025 the PSD2 connection with KNAB returned an error. Synchronisation was temporarily unavailable. A support request was filed with GoCardless.
Update 29 December 2025: KNAB updated the connection. To regain access, the account must be reconnected via Import > Bank connection.
ABN AMRO positive amounts for expenses
Section titled “ABN AMRO positive amounts for expenses”December 2025
From 18 December 2025, ABN AMRO transactions imported via the PSD2 connection were all read as positive amounts, including expenses. Based on the data provided it was not possible to determine whether a transaction was income or an expense.
Update 19 December 2025: a fix was applied and the issue is resolved. Incorrectly imported transactions can be corrected as follows:
- Open the Transactions screen and choose Filter.
- Set Imported on to 18 or 19 December.
- Click Apply.
- Open the action menu and choose Select all, then Delete.
- Go to Import and fetch the transactions again.
Rabobank PSD2 connection had to be refreshed every 5 days
Section titled “Rabobank PSD2 connection had to be refreshed every 5 days”May 2024 – February 2026
From May 2024, many Rabobank users had to refresh their PSD2 connection every 5 days instead of the usual 180 days. Background: if the connection was not used in Spendle for 5 days, the token expired automatically at Rabobank and had to be re-created.
The issue lay with Rabobank/GoCardless. A report was submitted to GoCardless; the fix was in progress from mid-2024 until early 2026 with periodic status updates.
Update 16 February 2026: GoCardless rolled out the fix; the connection now holds for 180 days again without intermediate refreshing.
