Changing the administration password
Each administration has its own password that is separate from your Spendle account. That password encrypts your data — both on your device and in the cloud. Spendle does not hold this password and cannot reset it.
Changing from within the administration
Section titled “Changing from within the administration”Open the administration and navigate via the hamburger menu to [administration name] > Set password. Enter the current password and choose a new one. The local working file is re-encrypted immediately; the cloud copy is updated at the next synchronisation.
What if the password is forgotten?
Section titled “What if the password is forgotten?”Recovery is only possible if you are still logged in on another device with the same administration. Open the administration there, change the password via hamburger menu > [administration name] > Set password, synchronise with your Spendle account, and on the other device open the administration again via Open > Spendle account (not via the local working file). See Forgot password.
If you are logged out on all devices, the administration can no longer be opened. Creating a new administration and re-importing your bank history via PSD2 or CSV is the only option in that case.
Why two passwords?
Section titled “Why two passwords?”- Spendle account password — for logging in to the cloud. Can be reset via email.
- Administration password — for encrypting your data. Cannot be recovered if lost — it is the key to your own vault.
