Insight screen
The Insight screen shows where money is spent, how the budget is tracking and what remains at the end of the selected period. The screen can be configured to suit individual information needs.
Parts of the screen
Section titled “Parts of the screen”- Period selector — at the top, select a month, quarter, year or a custom period.
- Result forecast — an expectation of what remains at the end of the year, based on the budget.
- Budget position — the difference between actual spending and the budget. A negative position means more has been spent than budgeted; a positive position means there is room remaining.
- Categories — per category: the amount, budget, percentage of total expenses and the position.
- Group view — switch between individual categories and groups (for example Household, Housing), including drill-down per group.
- Monthly trend — chart showing the development of expenses (or a specific group) over time.
- Remaining budget — what remains according to the budget for the remaining period.
Interpretation with example
Section titled “Interpretation with example”The result forecast shows how much is expected to remain — for example €1,630 for this year. If the position is negative, for example €-697, the expected result is correspondingly lower than before (from €2,327 to €1,630).
Clicking through to a category with a large negative position shows which item is causing the deviation. An expense category such as Gas, water, electricity that deviates €895 from the budget calls for an adjustment to the budget rather than a correction to the transactions.
Drill-down on a category
Section titled “Drill-down on a category”Click a category to:
- See the transactions within that category in the selected period.
- View the monthly trend.
- Follow the position trend (trend compared to budget).
Useful for example to see exactly what €650 in Groceries was spent on.
