The reference balance is the last known balance of an account on the specified reference date. The balance before and after is calculated based on transactions. The reference balance only needs to be entered once per account.

Through an automatic PSD2 connection, and for bank formats that include the balance, the balance is updated automatically when transactions are imported.

A balance correction creates a correction transaction to resolve a balance discrepancy, or to track the balance history of accounts for which no transaction export is available. See also Account settings for the other options per account.

In addition to current accounts, Spendle also supports savings accounts, investment accounts, credit cards and cash accounts. Each account has its place in the Balance overview and is included in the total assets, depending on the configured account type on the balance sheet (asset or liability).
