Alternative to the ABN Grip app
ABN Amro discontinued the Grip app on 16 December 2021. For those looking for a replacement: Spendle is available as a web, Android and iOS app, and works with accounts from various banks in the Netherlands and the EU.
Similarities to Grip
Section titled “Similarities to Grip”In Spendle it is possible to, among other things:
- create a PSD2 bank connection with ING, Rabobank, ABN Amro, KNAB, Bunq, ASN, SNS, RegioBank and various EU banks,
- import a CSV or MT940 file from any bank or savings account,
- automatically categorise income and expenses via rules,
- set budgets per category or per account,
- attach documents and receipts to transactions,
- share an administration with a partner or administrator.
Security and privacy
Section titled “Security and privacy”The administration is stored encrypted on the user’s own device, with an administration password known only to the user. The PSD2 connection provides read-only access to transactions — transfers are not possible. Spendle receives account data from the bank via a PSD2 provider and does not store it on the provider side.
